Some of my favorite wildlife moments happen where nature and everyday life meet. This young Red-tailed Hawk chose the top of a utility pole as its lookout, offering a brief glimpse into its world before continuing on.
Wildlife doesn't exist only in remote forests or mountain peaks. Sometimes it's waiting quietly above a country road, reminding us that incredible moments can be found almost anywhere if we're willing to slow down and look.
The Story Behind the Lens
Photography became more than a hobby. It became a reason to slow down, step outside, and pay attention to a world I had spent too much time rushing past.
Today, AP Focus Photography is focused on wildlife and nature. From ospreys diving for fish and herons raising their young to deer moving quietly through the trees, I photograph the moments that happen when we are patient enough to notice them.
For me, wildlife photography isn't simply about getting the sharpest image or finding the rarest animal. It's about watching, waiting, learning, and telling the story of what I was fortunate enough to witness.
Sometimes that means hours of waiting for 1/3200 of a second.
Sometimes it means lowering the camera and simply being there.
Either way, my goal is the same:
To preserve the moments most people walk past and share the stories behind them.
